Karen Critchley

As Manager, I oversee, over a hundred technical staff employees; in the following departments: emergency, critical care, dental, surgery, radiology/MRI, medicine, cardiology, rehabilitation/cold laser, step down wards and instruments. Recently, I inquired the supervision of the inventory department. I have been an intricate part in the development of the Oradell Animal Hospital CARES program (a palliative care program), the employee Spirit Committee, a team building committee that instills better communication and team work among all departments. I have started a monthly department meeting, which includes of all managers, supervisors, team leaders and a doctor. The department meeting allows the leaders of the hospital to build better relationships and problem solve to make OAH the best it can be. This past year I brought in an outside coach to help all levels of management grow, learn and better OAH. I brought in a leadership coach to help all of our supervisor and management members learn and grow.  I am currently working on my CVPM and hope to submit my application for review in 2018. In May of 2018, OAH will be hosting our first CE lecture series that I have created with another co-worker. We have 10 speakers and 2 wet labs on CPR planed that will result in 6 CE credits. My plan is to host this as an annual event. I have worked closely with our Marketing department on this project others, including promoting OAH at local conferences. I have completed the AAHA Leadership academy program and attending AAHA - VMI course starting next month.  I am on the floor daily talk to the staff, working with them as a peer. I feel it’s very important to personally know my staff. I will work late, overnights to make sure I see all staff members monthly. My favorite area to work as a technician is surgery and anesthesia. Outside of work, I love reading, the beach, and spending time with her family. I am completely dedicated in learning, growing as a technician and a manager at OAH. My goal is to bring my team to the next level.
